I'm not working further on it. I have some ideas of where this could go but not time to implement them.

This one died when it was removed from the jstools module.
Ironically, as it was (re)moved out to its own separate module, it is also the reason for not moving the jstools module ahead, so we currently have 2+ dead ends:
#1161648: Port jstools to Drupal 7
This might be an example of why a collection of sub-modules sometimes can have increased chances of survival than if keeping them separate.

Ah, but some bits of the old Jstools code live on, which certainly would not have been the case had it remained in the unmaintainable jumble I initially dumped it in.
And most of the code has now been replaced by much better solutions--community driven open source at work.
I've updated the project page to add a few links to potentially relevant projects. More suggestions welcome.
