I've installed OG but something's not right. I'm new to Drupal so it's probably me.
I can't find where to add a new group. I've gone through the documentation but it doesn't seem to be specific to 6.x version.

Are there any walk-throughs or videos specific to the installation and setup?
the read-me text doesn't seem to work for me.

Thanks,
Mike

After you install the module, you need to either create a new content type for 'group' or use one of your existing types to serve as a group type (you select this in the content type edit form in the 'organic groups' fieldset). Once you've done that, you just create content of that content type and that will be a group. You can see a summary of what content types are used for what by og at admin/og/og in the 'content types' fieldset.

Thanks, that worked. Now, another question. When I go into Admin > Modules > OG,
I see what appears to be "missing" pieces. Did I not install something correctly?

Organic groups panels 6.x-1.0-rc6 Enable group admins to create panel pages.
Depends on: Organic groups (enabled), Panels (missing), Panels_views (missing)
Organic groups Views integration 6.x-1.0-rc6 Use Views to search and display organic groups. Highly recommended.
Depends on: Organic groups (enabled), Views (missing)

Thanks,
Mike

Not at all-- the panels and views modules provide additional functionality that integrate with og but they're not required. The "missing" just means those modules are not installed and are required before you can activate that additional integrated functionality. Both are excellent modules so you might want to take a look at them and see if you'd like to use them. I can't imagine many sites that don't use views anymore.

I am new to Drupal, and I need to get a time estimate to do the following:
1. enable OG/add give my visitors the ability to register so that they can
2. enter comments on stories as well as sign up for my newsletters.
Asssuming that I don't spend time on style/looks.

Can anyone give me a realistic estimate based upon past experience? My boss wants this before I start. Thanks
