It seems the more I read about taxonomy, folksonomy, and various other tag modules/patch's/etc the more I get confused. What I want to do is to enable del.icio.us type tagging in my drupal installation. I've most of the threads posted here, but no avail.
Can anyone guide me as the best way to accomplish this?
Thanks,

agreed
this topic is getting really fuzzy for me, too, even after reading some of the posts about this very subject.
I just want a text field for each node where people with permissions can simply type in tags. does this already exist? if so, what module should I be using?
It's in 4.7.
It's in 4.7.
There were a number of competing methods to accomplish this in 4.6. The one that used Folksonomy was deprecitated and there is a following around something called awtags for 4.6 hosted elsewhere. I don't use awtags but I am sure someone will pop up to tell you about it..

Works very nicely.

for the follow up. I don't mind waiting for 4.7 at this stage... sounds like it's got loads of enhancements.
