I really like the way version control works on this site (a bit like wikipedia) & would like to use it on my own site.
Is that achieved by a module? which one?

if you mean version control of the project distribution that is handled by the project.module and I don't believe it has been ported to Drupal 6.x yet.
If you mean revisions of documents you can enable that on a per content type basis in adminster -> content types
edit the content type of choice
expand the workflow collapsed menu
checkmark create new revision
save form
what I mean
Sorry - I mean I like the version revision that I see on this site with a list of check buttons to compare versions. I don't see that on my installation of drupal so I wonder if it is a separate module.
I am new to Drupal, so I don't know what 5 was like.

Again I assume you mean compare versions of of pages/documents
D5 + D6 handled this the same way, and is explained in my previous comment.
goto administer -> content types
edit the content type you want to have revisions
expand the workflow collapased menu
checkmark create new revision
save form
that content type will now create revisions of that content type.
And how to edit versions later?
I've that option enabled on the site I manage - http://librexpresion.org/ - for book pages, and when I edit one of those I've the option of grab a log message, but I've not found neither the manner of browser previous versions or make a rollback.
How could I do that?
TIA.

Add the http://drupal.org/project/diff module.

ah
I think diff is what I am after. I'll try it out
diff won't work
I've tried installing diff, but it doesn't appear anywhere in the list of modules. Can't work out why. I've installed one other module B4 & I think I did everything the same way.
Any suggestions?
make sure you grabbed the
make sure you grabbed the right version-- 9 of 10 times a module doesn't show up it's because someone inadvertantly grabbed the wrong version. iirc, it should appear in the 'other' fieldset.

I have the right version. It is diff-6.x-2.0.tar.gz & I am running D6. Where the 'other' fieldset?
the 'other' fieldset is a
the 'other' fieldset is a fieldset on the admin/build/modules page where the module should be listed. maybe try clearing the cache (admin/settings/performance)?

the cache doesn't seem to be enabled, but I hit the clear button anyway.
I can no longer install ANY modules. Have no idea why. They are all D6 versions, they're in the same directory as the module that does work, with the same permissions etc.
No new modules work
maybe it's a misbehaving
maybe it's a misbehaving module-- i would try removing them all-- then download them fresh and add them back one by one testing after each until you find the bad boy.

Hmm
I'm very reluctant to remove image, which was the first module I added. Presumably I would loose all uploaded images. It is such a common module that I doubt if it is the problem... or is it?
I don't mean uninstall--
I don't mean uninstall-- just delete the folders. That won't change your db and you shouldn't lose anything. In any case however, you should always back up before troubleshooting.

done what you say
* move folders
the module image is still in admin
* backup
*update database
the module image is still in admin
so, previous module installs are in the database.
what next?
OK that's odd-- the last
OK that's odd-- the last time i saw something like this (removed modules still showing up) it had to do with a host side caching issue of some sort. It might be worth checking with your host.

right
that sounds a good lead - we did restart apache before, but that was before I moved the files
local machine
not remote host
SELinux?
we have centos 5.2 with SELinux maybe that is the problem - anyone know? Permisions & things
start over
we're going save the database & try a new shot at drupal. Multisites might be handy here but i'm not sure how easy it is.
Oh no! Problem solved
It was a silly mistake.
We had an 1st try at an installation of Drupal with a path that was too similar to the real one & I was putting the modules in there.
I knew the problem had to be at our end... a have all the modules now drupal rocks!
oh no-- lol, at least the
