I'm adding this here, so I won't forget. This has been discussed and agreed on that the admin should be able to control what shows up at the creation form. This is mainly a usability feature, so that users are not presented with an overload of check boxes to plow through for each node, when in general only one or two might be needed.
The implementation needs to be thought through bit. It is up to mercmobily to figure out how he'd like to implement it, since he's the guru coder for the module.
