Problem with multiping

Hi,
Multiping doesn't appear to be working - in spite of the fact it is configured to ping weblogs, pingomatic, google and technorati, I cant find any of th posts I make.
I currently only run cron manually (very rarely). Is this the problem? The whole point of moving to drupal was to get an easy RSS pinging CRM to build the name of teh site.
Any ideas?
All scheduled activities
All scheduled activities need cron to be run, multiping is one of this activities.
