Please consider adding the following feature to Drupal's comments.module:
Ability to not only DELETE inappropriate comments, but to REJECT them and supply a reason. This reason should then be E-mailed to the poster so he/she will know exactly why it was rejected.
For example, if someone submits a non-related question, one should be able to REJECT it stating that questions should be posed on the forum. However, one should still be able to DELETE spam comments without any reason mailed back to the commenter.

rszrama commentedOriginal poster didn't come back. This sounds like a fine contrib feature but not necessary for the core comment functionality.
