I'm really interested in Lullabot podcasts, they are singular and important.
With that in mind I propose a campaing to transcript their podcast to text, this will easy the task for translation to other languages and that way "spread the news" widely. This is very important in my opinion, because there are non-english communities and poeple with interest in Drupal but they don't know a bit of english.

So, how to contribute? just drop a comment and offer your precious time, a couple of you drupalers would be enough.

Blessings!

Perhaps someone can donate the transcription, it may cost 65$USD at http://www.tech-synergy.com/Tech-synergy/convertaudiototext.php and

I hear Mechanical Turk is a good option for transcribing podcasts cheaply: http://waxy.org/2008/09/audio_transcription_with_mechanical_turk/

First, you need to check with them or read their TOS regarding this kind of information since not doing so can create them a financial/economical loss.

I just got their video and I think is terrific for beginners, but if the demand for a version in a different language grows, I'm sure they will be interested in doing a voice over to rack in some $$$.

I don't think there should a need to hire an external company to do the transcript of the podcast when many of us have good skills and experience in translation/interpretation. Plus, folks can do the translation directly from the podcast to their language of interest.

Ultimately, it should be up to the interested communities to make an effort to accomplish that. I'm sure there are other folks in the Spanish speaking communities that can help with this project.

Personally I am more interested in helping with translation of modules or the platform that these kinds of projects. It's a good idea though.

Sure! We've found that we don't have the time or resources to do the transcription ourselves, but if anyone would like to do that, we could probably even figure out a way to provide the transcript on lullabot.com as well.

I even looked into services that did transcription a while back. But like I said, we just don't have the resources to do this for every podcast.

But if anyone else would like to provide those resources, we would love it.

I recommend starting with something small. Something like "Show Notes". Instead of word for word transcribing, only the main ideas/conclusions/news/links/etc are noted in a simple list format. These "show notes" would probably be useful for lullabot anyway. Then, translate them and make them available.

This way, you can test your plan before you commit a lot of resources.

I like your idea, that is a good start point. I'm going to do a first attempt.

There is an initial work at http://groups.drupal.org/node/23540, I encourage Spanish speakers to collaborate with the project!
