If I rename and upload the bluemarine theme....say I the folder "bluemarinea" why would that be incompatible with the Drupal core. Sorry, trying to get to the bottom of this issue so I can implement this site.
In a former post someone mentioned a possible bug but I don't know enough about drupal to know.

.info file
Not sure whether it's becoz of this. But have you changed the name attribute in the
.info file.
Have you renamed the info file inside the dir to "bluemarinea.info" ?
yes
I've tried both...(the folder is now called neo)
I named the .info file neo.info and also "name = neo" and it looks like this:
; $Id: bluemarine.info,v 1.4 2007/06/08 05:50:57 dries Exp $
name = neo
description = Theme for 2009 festival.
version = VERSION
core = 6.x
engine = phptemplate
; Information added by drupal.org packaging script on 2008-08-14
version = "6.4"
project = "drupal"
datestamp = "1218672610"
I also tried "name = neo.info" but didn't work....

okay I just upgraded to 6.5 and still the same problem.
I'm stuck.
more info...
i've completely deleted the page.tpl.php from the theme directory. The way drupal is working is as if this file does not even exist.
I'm at a total loss, any help would be much appreciated
I'm with godaddy, I'm using a MAC, I'm using Dreamweaver CS3.
