I would like to present a book in its entirety instead of individual pages showing up on "home" link. Is there a way to prevent those pages from appearing everytime I add a new page to a book?

I tried not-publising the book pages and they were not published to home page and I could create a menu item for the top page, but then the remaining unpublished pages were unlinked from the book as standalone individual pages. So this did not work very well.

What's the trick? In essence I will not want generally to publish to home page any books I write as they are "user guides", "reference guides" etc. I would like to keep them under "boxes" and menus on side bars.

BTW: I managed to install and integrate drupal on sf.net servers in an unbelievable 10 minutes. Kudo's on your accomplishments team!!!!!

Uncheck "Promote" from those book pages. You can set this as default behaviour by going to Administer > Content > Configure > Content Types, selecting the "book" type, and then unchecking "promote". All new book pages will not appear on the front page.

Anyway to change the "protomote" setting on a bunch of pages at once. I have another website with about 30 pages I already submitted and now I'm turning that one option off 1 by 1.

Any short cuts?

"Demote" will un-promote the nodes selected. The only thing you cannot really do in bulk is un-sticky nodes this way -- those you have to do one at a time.
