I've just spent the best part of a working day trying to find a guide for NON-TECHIE folks about importing a simple blog from Wordpress 2.5 into a simple blog in Drupal 6.5.
I'm absolutely shocked that it's been a very frustrating and disappointing search.
So here's my rant:
- I don't want to write or amend PHP code (largely because I don't yet understand it)
- If the wp_migrate module is so great then why isn't it's use fully explained? Or if it is explained then why isn't it well signposted? I've installed it - now what?
- I don't have command line access to my hosting service (neither do I want it)
- I've exported the Wordpress blog into an XML file on my PC - now what?
- I don't know how to log into a mysql database remotely (and wouldn't fully understand it if I tried)
So, how blooming difficult can it be for nerds to write in plain English?????
p.s. don't get me wrong, I love Drupal. However, the nerdy bias of working with it really drives me batty at times
Cheers,
Karl

tried it but...
...apparently I'm not allowed to remotely connect to my database(s) for security reasons.

unfortunately you have a lot
unfortunately you have a lot of pre-conditions for what is actually a pretty technical task. In any case, i don't know what the wp_migrate module is, but the http: http://drupal.org/project/wordpress_import module (the d6 version is in the issue queue) is well documented in step-by-step fashion in the README.txt. Might be worth a shot.
