Anyone else think the search function at the Drupal website is awful? I mean I was looking for the Views module and I typed in "Views" in both 1) the upper search box and the 2) "Search downloads" box. In both cases the link is not even listed in the first 3 pages of the search results! I had to go to Google and search "Drupal Views module" and boom there was the link in the first result. C'mon like seriously?

That is true. What can I say?

I don't know what options drupal.org is using in admin/settings/search for prioritizing the results, but probably the algorithm needs work with handling such common words.

Google search is a tempting alternative at the moment.

Anyone want to just start an open source search engine?

I think the is hard to be done by just anyone. Those guys rely on research papers, processing power, maybe some Bayesian heuristics, and lots of access data for machine learning.

Anyone remember Altavista before Brin and Page published their paper? Then AV became a joke.

If you search "drupal views module" here on drupal.org (just in the search box which appears on all pages) the 'Views' page which gives you direct access to the info you may want is the 5th listed on the result page??? seems OK to me?

Nor for me. I don't see it in the first page.

I hate this whole site with a passion.

It has so much fantastic information that seems very difficult to find.

So many amazing people with little to no sense of community or connectidyness.

I just don't get it.
