Change title attribute on "read more" link

I've spent hours trying to find out how to do this to no avail. The custom module code for read more posted here doesn't work at all (I get a WSOD). The Theme settings module only allows plain text in the title attribute.

What I want to do is put the title of the node into the read more text. It's an accessibility problem to use generic text for links. Screen readers will get a list of links on the page which enables uers to easily navigate from link to link without reading the text. "Read the rest of this posting" doesn't make sense out of context.

Is there any way I can do this? I'm not much of a programmer but I can hack around with php a little bit... submitting a bug report and/or patch to theme settings module might be an option.
