Greetings
I got two drupal sites on the same server: the first running (so far 5.12) is able to get updates; for the second one (6.6) when I try to check for updates I receive the message:
"Unable to fetch any information on available new releases"
How is it possible? It's a bug for update module in 6.x? Wrong server configuration for 6.x requests?
Thx

Do you have any contrib themes or modules installed yet ?
fresh install
This happens to me on fresh install, with no contrib-modules loaded.
(openID modules, for instance, do not work when it has to fetch information from an external opendID server).
But it has any sense that the outgoing connections can work well in Drupal 5x e not in 6x?
Also having no luck with 'Available Updates'
I am seeing something I think is similar. I have installed 6.6 and ran the cron manually and it says "Unable to fetch any information about available new releases and updates." I also get the same message when I try in a in-use install as well and I know that used work just fine.
Has anyone seen this and found a solution?
Yeas I have the same problem
Yeas I have the same problem, I am on drupal 6.6 and unable to get any update.
The error message is
HTTP request status Fails
Your system or network configuration does not allow Drupal to access web pages, resulting in reduced functionality. This could be due to your webserver configuration or PHP settings, and should be resolved in order to download information about available updates, fetch aggregator feeds, sign in via OpenID, or use other network-dependent services.
Is there any one, who can help us.
Thanks in advance
