Issue Summary
In my frontpage (a static common page) I can't attribute a specific description / keywords like the other pages my site.
I have found that http://drupal.org/node/54657 but it does not work for me (activate mission or slogan) and the problem is old... since 2006 I suppose the bug has being correct?
It's a very handicapant bug for a google website position.

This problem also exists in version 6.x-1.0 which would be a very useful thing to have fixed.
It seems to be fine if you have a single page promoted to the front page - however doing this enables the RSS feed which is picked up by the browser even if setting the RSS icons to be display: none; To get around this problem, setting a page as the front page such as node/1 will not display the RSS feed information, but nodewords will not display a meta description in this circumstance.

Ah, this isn't an issue at all. Just something that wasn't obvious until I did some deeper digging.
To get around this all you have to do is un-check "Use front page meta tags" in the Advanced Options.
Alternatively, leave it checked and then go to "Front Page" from the navigation tabs and set the meta tags in there.
It's really quite simple, just not prominent until you read a little further into it.

Hi,
I reopen this issue, because I can't really find a way to edit the description for the frontpage.
The instructions in comment #2 apply to the keywords meta tags, but not to description.
Can you please clarify the situation about that? And maybe adding a note to the README.txt to explain how to add/edit the frontpage description?
If I can make a proposal, adding a Description textfield to the
admin/content/nodewords/frontpagepage would be enough.Thanks,
Antonio

Ok, sorry for the noise.
I had to completely uninstall and reinstall the module to see that the textfield for frontpage description is already here. Simply disabling and re-enabling didn't fix the problem.
UPDATE: some more detailed description of what caused the problem, I had disabled the Description item in the Tags to show on edit form settings group, so the Description textfield was disabled also in the Fron page settings. No need to uninstall the module, just check this setting.

Antonio

WHERE IS THE Advanced Options?
#6
I don't think there is an Advanced Options section. it seems to be faulty information. I guess you're in the same situation I have. I've installed Nodewords (many, many times now) and can't get it to do a single wretched thing. Administer->Content Management->Meta tags (note: NOT Nodewords) takes you to a config page for lots of the options, but there is no advanced option that I can see.
I'm trying to enable the tags description and keywords, they're both ticked and they both show up when I edit a page. however nothing I put in any of the fields ever shows up on any of my pages. I don't get any tags showing up in my HEAD section at all. None.
Given that this has been broken for 2 years, from the dates in this thread of people having the exact same problem, it doesn't look as if anyone's going to fix this issue. I have installed the Google Analytics module, so at least I have an alternative to Nodewords to get that part working. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any other module for getting tags onto a page, so it looks like we're stuffed.

Advanced Options isn't faulty information. Go to Administer >> Content Management >> Meta Tags (Older Versions "Administer >> Content Management >> Nodewords)
Here you can un-check "Use front page meta tags".
Whenever you are having difficulty finding things you can always use the advanced help for the particular module. Of course you need to have the Advanced Help module installed :)

there are additional from Administer>> Content Management>> Meta Tags (Older Versions "Administer>> Content Management>> Nodewords)
Here you cans un-check "Use the front page meta tags. "
You should check Administer>> Content Management>> settings>> Nodewords the metatag to the output in html check that you want

I'm seeing the same config screen Pete is seeing and it does not have the options shown in hilmi's screenshot. Actually, now that I look at several of the sites we're hosting (on different servers), some look like Pete's screen and some like Hilmi's. The sites that have ones that look like Hilmi's work ok and output properly.
Working version is... 6.x-1.1
