Deletion of organic group does not delete subscription

Description
When I delete an organic group, the overview page of those users who were subscribed to it does still count this as an active subscriptions. For instance, users who are only subscribed to 1 group will still see "Groups 1" in the subscription overview.
I am aware that this page says "Note: The counts on this page may differ from the ones on the detail pages for various technical reasons."; however, it is still confusing for users if they are not subscribed to any group but "1" is listed; it is certainly less important for those who are members of 200 groups - whether it is 200 or 201 no one will notice.
Would it not be possible to delete all subscriptions to non-existing groups?
