I am very pleased to announce that a new German book about Drupal 6 is on its way to the book stores: "Praxiswissen Drupal 6" by Olav Schettler and Friedrich Stahl.
In this book, we describe the construction of a musicians' community using Drupal 6. As opposed to the Drupal bible by John VanDyk we also cover the modules used in the project to a good measure.
We wrote two more chapters that unfortunately we could not incorporate into the final book because the needed modules were not ready: A complete webshop with Übercart with German VAT and a chapter about integrating Drupal with the popular SixCMS 7. I plan to publish these chapters electronically on my website.
May Drupal live long and prosper!
Olav
Here is the text from the book's cover:
Installing and configuring Drupal
Get an overview about the architecture of Drupal 6 and start your project with installing and configuring a webserver and database.
Planning and structuring a website
Using an example project, you learn how to structure your own and your users' content for the web. Progressing from there, we develop an intuitive navigation.
Adapting the design
Drupal offers comfortable means to design a website. Learn about "themes" and how to use them to control the layout of your site.
Deploying interactive elements
Drupal has a lot of features to intensify the interaction between you and the users of your website. In addition, it is easy to offer users a space to communicate. Weblogs, forums, comments, newsletter, surveys etc. are available.
Develop your own modules
If the functionality of Drupal or its extension modules are not sufficient, you can roll your modules. In a simple and a more advanced example we show you how to do this.

Olav! This is great news!
Olav! This is great news! After meeting you in Barcelona I did wonder if I'd missed the book somehow, but I'm glad to see you were able to bring it all the way to completion. Congratulations, and I hope it sells well. : )
