Hi,

Is there any way of applying a location from any of the possible modules to a taxonomy term?

Let me explain why I want to do this. Our web site contains videos and products about aircraft and I have created a "super" vocabulary to tag our content. The lowest terms are aircraft and display teams which are categorised by things like manufacturer, air force, era, etc.

Videos will also be assigned a location, and an event using appropriate modules. Events are also tagged with the super category and assigned a location.

However I would also like to link manufacturers and air forces with a location. Lockheed Martin with Maryland USA, Antinov with Kiev Ukraine, RAF with UK, FAF with France etc.

I could add locations to the super vocabulary but I could get better functionality using a location module like maps etc.

It might make sense to make content types for those things you want to attach locations to.

I'm not sure how I would link all this up.

A users navigation might be to look for manufacturers and than wants to look at a list of UK manufacturers. Once he has found the UK manufacturer node how would I link up the Aircraft terms that are associated with the manufacturer in the taxonomy.

Is there any way of directly linking a term with a node, i.e. only allowing one node to be associated with each term, so I can use that node to define the term - location, detailed description, web site, etc.

If your information is represented by a node (for example the manufacture) you can use a node reference field in aircraft (if it is also a content type) to reference the manufacture.

I had thought of this but as far as I can see I would loose all the advantages of using taxonomy to organise our primary content (the videos) if they were all to be linked with the node reference field.

I think I will end up using a basic range of location terms in the Vocabulary, County and maybe State, and use the location module for videos and events.

Isn't the place module, a handy module between location and taxonomy: www.drupal.org/project/place ?
