I was hoping this module would help reduce long CCK forms as it does with the view of a node. Any chance of this module could focus on breakup long CCK forms too? Using CCK Fieldgroups to do it would be a bonus.

Sure. It's something we've discussed, in fact. But it's a feature request for CCK, not Panels, because of the way such integration would have to be architected. So I'm kicking it over to there, so that Yves & Karen et. all can decide when/if/how this possibility, and therefore this issue, should be handled.

In the meantime, you might consider Vertical Tabs.

Right, that's something we never set to address. Definitely a cool mission for the generous soul that steps up for #329464: Maintainer needed for CCK / Panels integration :-)
