Which slideshow?

Have you seen slideshow creator? You can place it everywhere. But I never got a response with my bug reports. http://drupal.org/node/327716 and http://drupal.org/node/320007

I found a solution for my needs, but I am confused that nobody answered my issues.

Its now time to prepare a total code review. Soon on the next release.

Hopefully they don't change default behaviour. I used no option values with 6.x-1.29, since options didn't work at least fir Firefox 3 Linux.

been experimenting with the same thing and here are few easy ones to look over:

views slideshow: i love this, it's a plugin for views - using it to make a 'recent comments' block where every second a new comment fades in and out from recent comments listing...could be *anything* though - an image, a username, whatever, very powerful - also using on OG home pages to show 'the most recent items' from the group at top of page (just one item at a time, fades titles in and out)

dynamic display block: this may be what you're after, very nice tool - check out the project page, can't even describe it all here, plays well with other modules as far as i can tell

slider module: great for nodes or images, you create a content type 'slider' and then make a nodereference cck to something else, plop it all in and voila, a page with nifty slider arrows to move back and forth

node carousel: haven't exhausted this one yet, i feel that views slideshow is doing what i wanted already...

many others, like 'jcarousel block' - that one's great for images or teasers...mostly used for images, and it can "automagically" pull imagefields from a page and throw them into the block on any page in which there are imagefields, very nice for automation of such a thing - but you'll need to tweak default styles to change width and height and all of that...

there are many others, but these are the ones i've spent the most time with over the past couple of months...

I've been going throug the same process of searching for a slideshow module that will do what I want. Essentially, I'm looking for something that will auto play on a page & cycle fading through up to 10 images that relate to the text on that page. Ideally, there would be some way to jump to individual images in the sequence directly, or to pause it.

Couloir looks nice, but doesn't seem to be quite what I want, as there is a noticeable pause between each slide loading. I haven't actually tried installing it yet though.

I can't get views_slideshow to work for some reason (I have the latest version of views & the latest release of drupal 6). I enable the module, but can see no links anywhere for administering it that are described in the documentation. Furthermore, if I type in the URL from the documentation for the admin page, it just says that the page can't be found.

I'm currently playing around with the slideshow_creator module & cck. The fades between the slides look good, but I can't see any way of jumping directly to specific slides. The syntax for setting up the slides in CCK is also a bit clunky if I want to normal users to be able to create new slideshows on pages.

I'll have a look at the other modules described here - unfortunately it seems that at present, nothing does quite what I want.
