This looks great...

I am hoping to use something like this on my frontpage... instead of using it for 'content', i am hoping to use it for blocks such as: 'top 5 rated', 'most recent articles'... and stuff like that.

Is there a way to do that with the slider?

Yeah, I haven't done it personally, but I don't see why not. Possible solutions include:

- Use a module that creates a block from a node. Something like http://drupal.org/project/nodeasblock
- Use Panels module to put a node in a section of the page. http://drupal.org/project/panels
