WYSIWYG editor. Which one?

sparrowdog - November 2, 2008 - 12:23

I have just done my first install of Drupal (6.6) after using other systems like Word Press, x-cart, Movable Type....

I notice that Drupal doesn't have a WYSIWYG editor installed by default. Can anyone give me any tips or advise on which one works the best with Drupal, has the least amount of bugs, most features etc.

Thanks

Ah, the age-old

Ah, the age-old question...Two of the most popular are TinyMCE and FCKEditor. I prefer FCKEditor - Easier for me to exclude from showing on specific textareas.

Hi, here you can see that

Hi, here you can see that most webmasters who share drupal stats have chosen FCKEditor over TinyMCE just like tcconway: http://drupal.org/project/usage
it's not a lot more, so we can say that it's about 50-50 in total, but if you look deeply by clicking on usage data for each project you'll realize that people who use Drupal 6 mostly prefer FCKEditor whereas people still using Drupal 5 are stuck with TinyMCE.

None of them

I´ve tried them both. If I should choose one, I think it´s easier to configure TinyMCE than FCKeditor, but I would say that *if* and only if I had to choose one.
I´ve used them both and didn´t like either. I´m yet to find a good editor that is easy to configure *and* loads easy and fast.

Anyway, there are several new options out there, some of them seems to be very simple. (one, two, three, four, five, six, seven ...)
After hearing what Dries have said at the last DrupalCon, chances are that maybe they are planning to add some WYSIWYG support in core.
