PROBLEM AFTER ENABLING VIEWS 2.0 - "THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED"
pleasedeletethi... - November 2, 2008 - 17:35
AFTER INSTALLING UNDER \sites\all\modules\ THE NEW FINAL VIEWS 2.0 MODULE I GET THE MESSAGE "THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED" AT ALL PAGES.
I THEN RUN THE COMMAND UPDATE `system` SET `status` = '0' WHERE filename LIKE '%/cck/%' OR filename LIKE '%/views/%' TO DISABLE THE MODULES AND EVERYTHING IS RUNNING NORMAL AGAIN.
ANY IDEAS?

Sure. Enable only one module
Sure. Enable only one module at a time, and watch until the problem reappears. So, you will know which module exactly did it.
Note that the string "the page cannot be displayed" does not exist, either in core drupal or in cck or in views, neither in UPPERCASE nor in lowercase nor in Propercase. When the error reappears,
- copy the exact error message
- keep a note, at which place exactly it appears and what else appears or doesn't appear with it.
Also note that for some reason all-uppercase letters somehow make a discussion less smooth. It is part of the web culture. Did you post this from a mobile phone which has only uppercase letters, or do you have some special condition?
Still the same problem after enabling Views module
Cog.rusty specifically you, please do not reply to any of my messages again.
Notice, that there are also people out there that do have a condition problem
(I do not and hope you dont' either)- and the way you expressed yourself is not appropriate for them or anyone - this for sure, is not part of any "....web culture".
What you propose I have already done and caused the problem.
(even less experienced, can understand this from my post)
As known, there are also messages coming from IE, or Mozilla etc. when working with drupal.
These messages may also indicate a compatibiliy problem, wrong configuration, a bug etc., which are caused by any of the above. This message is an exact message displayed on IE.
Why writting in lowerPropercase or whatever now? For the same reasons I wrote my previous post in CAPS.
Regarding UPPERlowerPropercase matters, as far as I know, there is no obligation from anyone to answer any post. If this is the case there is also an administrator at any case to restrict my or anyone else 's postings out of any forum.
By the way you used this posting to answer, CAPS or not doesn't matter - really not!,
but THE PROBLEM POSTING MATTERED!!
I hope this is not the way of the Drupal team, and know for sure it is not part of any ".....web culture" way.
I am sorry but I had to reply this way. This indeed is not the best place for such discussions.
I 'd still appreciate any help to the above problem from anyone that may have experienced it,
or knows any solution.
No insult meant for people
No insult meant for people with special conditions of course. It was just that last week, in some mailing list, someone asked to be excused for using all caps because of a vision problem, so I figured I'd help establish whether there was a reason here. Happy Drupalling.
Cog.rusty specifically you,
wow, harsh much? You've just cut yourself off from one of the most helpful people in the forums-- and probably others as well who won't appreciate the tone of your post.
I beg to differ-- it really does. I saw your post earlier and one of the reasons I skipped over it was because I don't like being yelled at (which is what all caps implies in written communication, whether you agree or not). As you say, you are of course, free to post however you like, CR was just offering some friendly advice about how your post will or will not encourage meaningful replies. I didn't see anything hostile in CR's post at all.
Again, I respectfully disagree. It most certainly is part of web culture:
No, you had a choice-- just as you say that CR had a choice in whether or not to respond to your post. You chose to respond in the manner in which you did.
why would anyone want to if this is the type of response they can expect? I've seen many sarcastic and snipey replies to posts (i freely admit I make them myself from time to time) but CR's reply above simply wasn't one of them.
And for the record, the other reason I didn't respond to your post when I first saw it is because it doesn't provide any where near the info necessary to assist in troubleshooting. It's amazing that you put so much more effort into chastising CR then into your original request for assistance. A good rule of thumb when requesting assistance (on d.o. or anywhere else) is to not expect people to be willing to put more effort into helping you than you are willing to do for yourself.
In any case, good luck to you.

When a wise man shows the moon, a fool can only see his finger
First of all, I got the solution from another forum (outside drupal forums) where I posted the same post the same way
and got an answer by a more polite-technical and less chatty person.
You really seem to have more to show off than what you really have (happens a lot in these days).
Is this what this forum is for ? I thought not.
".... doesn't provide any where near the info necessary to assist in troubleshooting"
...next time I will also post the solution if this is within anyone 's logic.
No I will not put the solution on this forum.
Be careful while you type!!! There is a CAPS Lock button on your keyboard (actually the world is full of them)
.....you see? it is not nice when one uses your way of communication.
Why would a person with a special condition explain anything to your forum? DO NOT ANSWER THIS.
You would be really in trouble IF it was so.
Before replying why not think in a more exerienced way, or wise or think again.
Anyway such replies is no good reputation for such forums. I AM STOPPING YOU here. <-
I wish you improvement,
a lot of luck too!
Happy drupalling!

This whole thread seems to support that when someone starts with all caps something is already wrong.

lol, i was just thinking the same thing. oh well, that's what you get for trying I suppose. Can't let one bad apple spoil the whole barrel though. Luckily this type of nonsense isn't all that common on d.o.

Is there an administrator on this .org?
Heh, now you want to bug an
Heh, now you want to bug an authority figure and not just another visitor like us. That's original.
Your suggestions about what to reply to, and how to manage my time better are appreciated, and I have no doubt that you can give me some good pointer for a meaningful life. Alas, these decisions are still up to me.
talk about nothing to do--
talk about nothing better to do -- lololol.
And yes there are several administrators on d.o.-- please go ahead and post an issue in the webmaster's queue (select "Drupal.org webmasters" from the project drop-down box) referencing this thread.
