fileview in block

Hi. I'm developing a module that is a block. I need the block to show a list of uploaded file from wich i must choose. I've tried to implemente the fileviw module in my block, modifying some function (basically the hook name to fit my module), but i'm not sure it's the right way. Can I get a simple table with the thumbs of the image without reimplemente every single function from fileview module? Help me, my code is exploding...
