Ning - can we use that for something?

I just saw this:

Marc Andreessens new pet project.

How much of this could be Drupal?
Is it interesting?

With some effort probably

With some effort probably all of it. ;p

I just looked at this in some more detail.

Let's just say that I'm not too worried. Developers in the audience, especially those playing with the new form API, check this out: http://developerdocumentation.ning.com/post.php?Post:slug=Tutorial-RR-15

So, to summarize:
* you can freely program in PHP (and soon, other languages) on the Ning framework
* the Ning framework provides some helper functions
* your app will not work outside of the Ning framework, and the Ning framework is not open source

So why would anyone choose to spend time learning/programming Ning...when instead they could just hack on Drupal, Wordpress, Plone, or some other open source system?

Ajax is beautiful

I seriously like the Ajax in Ning, I love the fact that you can just click and edit things and also the drag and drop stuff.
