Hi all,

I'm very new to Drupal. I've got a test site installed running Drupal 6 and have added Views 2 and CCK and getting started implementing changes and adding content types. Also in restyling the Template to suit my needs.

My question is this:

I have to have some compelling reasons to convince people of why I want to use Drupal 6 over Rhythmyx Percussion. My employer is a large university and already owns Percussion, but it's managed from outside my department.
What I am looking for is some input on some of the advantages and disadvantages of these two systems compared by someone who has preferably used/worked with BOTH systems. It's important my information be accurate in regards to both systems.

If anyone has experience with both, or has a good source of information comparing the two, please pass it along. My research into comparisons has not gotten very far.

You might look at http://www.cmswatch.com/CMS/Vendors/Percussion for information on Percussion.

But one thing I noticed is that its not covered by their 2009 CMS report - http://www.cmswatch.com/CMS/Report/Vendors/
which might indicate that Percussion is not a major player in the market.

Thanks for the comments.

I have attempted to check out the cmswatch site, but it looks like most of their information is packaged for 'Sale' and i was hoping to get some info from a hands-on perspective. cmswatch is one of the places i had found to be a dead end. Its possible I was not looking in the right place though.

Ahh I see what you were saying now. That the report wasnt covering Percussion and thus it might be not be considered a major CMS anymore.. however upon reading over the page it does include it:

Upper Tier

* CoreMedia: CMS 2006 (European Edition only)
* Day Software: Communique
* FatWire: Content Server
* Mediasurface: Morello 5.6
* Percussion: Rhythmyx
* SDL Tridion: R5.3

Its just listed a bit oddly.

I found some useful information relating to this over at Acquia.
They have a whitepaper comparing costs etc

I think the paper was TCO for Open Source Social Publishing
