Hi

My Vimeo embedded video (embedded using the embedded video field) works fine on Firefox but doesn't seem to work on Internet Explorer v6-8, where empty space just comes up where the video should be. I'd be grateful for any help in fixing this.

My embedded video fields were created by pasting the Vimeo URL (as opposed to the Vimeo embed code) into the field. I'm not sure if it would make a difference if I used the embed code.

Before I started using embedded video field, I was simply embedding Vimeo videos by pasting the embed code into the HTML. This worked fine in both Firefox and IE.

Thanks in advance for any help.

As an aside, can anyone tell me:

- the minimum flash player requirements for playing embedded Vimeo
- whether the HD on Vimeo Plus is supported in embedded video field 6.x-1.0-alpha4

Thanks again for all help.

Andrew

I have this up and working on a live site without any IE related issues. Can you let me know if you have any other flash related modules running? Specifically, are you running swfobject?

Thank you for replying. I'm pretty sure I haven't got any modules relying on flash. And certainly not one called swf object. I've set them out at the end of this post if anyone would be good enough to check.

Also, I note that some people's problems with video embedding have been dependent on the theme they are using. I am just using the default Garland theme.

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Andrew

just changed this back to "active".

Also, Alex, if yours is an open site, could you tell me where it is, just so I can determine a few things eg I think the IE explorer that I am using at work (v6) may be too old to work anyway (this doesn't get round my oveall issue clearly but at least I could clear that up).

I'd be really grateful if someone could help me. I'm getting nowhere, and really could use the help.

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you set permissions for that field right?

The problem now seems to have fixed itself as far as IE v 7 is concerned (I don't know why). It still doesn't work on IE v6-8 though. I wonder if it could be a problem at the Vimeo end of things as opposed to emfield. I saw a few forums on Vimeo that said there have been historical issues with embedding Vimeo on IE v7. Some fairly recent posts (1 month or so ago).

Thanks 1davor - to make things more confusing I hadn't set up the field permissions up correctly and so non-super users were getting a blank too (whether or not they used Firefox or IE).
