Is there a way to have the same Adsense ad, maybe a 250x250 square, to appear in every blog post, without having to add the code every time? Is there such thing as a "floating block" that might do it?

Create a block and add it to the region you want to display the ads.

Then use the option to display only on listed pages and add blog/*

Or you could create a template for the blog pages and add the code there.
