I get an upgrade error, believe like http://drupal.org/node/203003 when trying to install cck (it's a fresh install as opposed to an upgrade).

I can install CCK on a fresh D6 without any problem. If this was really broken, I think we would have been flooded with reports by now, BTW.
Turning this into a support request until we can demonstrate an actual bug.

You'll need to provide a more detailed report : exact steps you take, exact CCK modules you enable, other contrib modules enabled on your site, exact error message or unexpected behavior you get.

Turns out there was an older version of the cck module that was later removed. I started a new thread: http://drupal.org/node/348865 and you can close this one.
