This worked for me. I had to put the files in the /sites/all/modules folder.

I downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpfreechat/files/

I downloaded the files under the branch 1.x (stable) - 1.2 - phpfreechat-1.2.tar.gz and phpfreechat-1.2-setup.php

Renamed everthing to phpfreechat

Then I went to admin/settings/phpfreechat and setup a Default Title and Default Channels.

Created a new content type admin/content/types/add. Out a Title and Name. Under Workflow settings - Show Chat Room, I selected Always and I deslected the option to promote to front page

Then I created new content for my new content type. node/add/chatroom. Gave it a Title, Added it to the Menu I wanted it on and set my URL path.

Now my users can go to the chatroom I just created.

I hope this helps everyone.

After about 7 attempts to get this installed properly... I can't figure out how to change the smileys at the bottom. I have read all the docs on the phpfreechat site but none of the "customizations" work.... does anyone know?
