Hii!

I'm wondering how can the output of blocks be customized by themes. We have two themes, that prints block contents differently: Garland in div elements and our own in unordered list. We would like to make our own print it also in divs, but don't know how. Anyone could spare a hint? :)

My first guess would be the way page.tpl.php prints the region (probably includes the region in list tags) and block.tpl.php might be using li elements instead of div elements.

Just copy the block.tpl.php from themes/garland/ to themes/your_theme/ , make modifications and you should be good to go.
