Hi all,

Just wanted to point you all at The World Is Not Flat a new Bryght/Raincity/Drupal site.
Lee LeFever, the site proprietor, is planning a year long, round the world trip. Like any true geek, he decided to he wanted a website to post to from the far corners of the globe. Lee says:

“When we started telling people about our plans for the trip, we found that people love to share their travel experiences. We would write what we could on a napkin or envelope and eventually lose those valuable tidbits. So, we figured there must be a way to collect and organize similar travel experiences using a web site. We started looking for ways to have a travel blog that also enabled our friends to share their experiences with us on the Web. This was the original inspiration for TwinF.”

Of particular note, make sure to check out the cool Google maps integration with Drupal (Coded up by yours truly, of course!). I’m going to stick this Drupal google map code up in CVS sandbox soon, so if anyone wants to play with it, dive in.

I also like the tag clouds.

Feedback and discussion encouraged!

The site looks really good (though one small thing, the blue in the logo is low contrast against that background). Also I look forward to your module that does the google map integration. That would be great to tie into event.

I was just going to put a link out here- thanks for doing it first!

I'm digging the feedback so far and hope others will help us fine tune the site. That logout link for anonymous users has been on my mind too! :)

nice theme but the top menu seems broken in Opera.

I really like the look and feel of the site - clean but pleasing to the eye.

The cloud tag feature is also really neat, I've seen similar things on other sites but not drupal. Is that a custom module?

Would you mind making a post describing some of the basic things you did to make the site...such as if you modified any templates which ones and did you have a hard time doing it. Or any common modules you found helped.

I am relatively new to drupal and am trying to figure out the best way to put together a good site making use of Drupal's capabilities and I know I appreciate seeing posts on real world setups and good tips in the process. Sometimes this site is so large its hard to really find a good run through of how someone put together a site.

I have an old time friend who loves to travel around the world and I think he would like this site - I'll pass the word.

thanks!

I'm also interested in the tag cloud.
Is this the "Keyword links" ? http://drupal.org/node/13717

You need the tagadelic module to get the tag cloud.

You can then insert a tag cloud into any page. I just tried adding this as a PHP snippet, but keep getting the whole terminated requested error, so I stuck it up on the wiki.

What was the bast theme you used to customize. i am assuming you started with a 3 column phptemplate (e.g spreadfirefox) than modify the
CSS from there.

Thanks alot,
