I am attempting to enable FeedAPI on content types other than Feed (auto-created with the install of FeedAPI). I am failing, however. Whenever I enable FeedAPI on a content type other than Feed the setting resets as soon as I create a some content of that type.

Have others experienced a similar situation?

It's possible that you forgot to enable " Is a feed content type" checkbox. I just tested the thing and it should work without any problem. It's not enough to enable some parsers and processors, you have to explicitly define that this is a feed content-type using that checkbox i mentioned earlier.
