crizFriendlist is very simular to buddylist2 and there is an upgrade path. It would make no sense to develop two simular modules for 6.x, so porting buddylist2 to d6 has been stopped by nodestroy.
We recommend buddylist2 for d5 and friendlist for d6.

munich2013 commentedHi criz,
does it mean that buddylist2 for d2 is generally stopped in the sense of 'no further activities planned in future - the project is cancelled' - or does it mean that b2 will be available in the mid-term but not yet in the next one, two month ?!?
Bye,
alef

crizhi alef,
nodestroy (and me) have stopped every developement of buddylist2 for d6. Buddylist2 for Drupal 5.x will remain maintained of course! For porting our project (for which buddylist2 has been built) to d6 we plan to switch to friendlist. Only if friendlist is not going in the "right" direction, we would have to make buddylist2 ready for d6. But that seems not to be the case.

SeanBannister commentedHi criz, I'm just researching buddylist solutions, and your post was really helpful, now I know it's down to Friendlist and User Relationships. Could you let me know why you recommend Friendlist over User Relationships.
Also it'd be really helpful for users researching solutions if you put all that info you mentioned in your last post on the front page of buddylist2.

crizokay, there is a comment on the frontpage, but maybe it could be made more clear...
User relationship has a new maintainer. Till then the project has been dead more or less (and this was the time we did this decision). I have not tested the new user relationship changes, but friendlist is very simular to buddylist2 and an upgrade to friendlist should be easier. There were some other reasons I don't remember now...
Btw: If somebody wants to get Buddylist2 ready for d6, go on... ;)

SeanBannister commentedI don't think we need 3 modules that do similar things, it's bad enough with FriendList and User Relationships. I really think in the next few months one of those will come out on top and we can focus on development of it. They are covering very similar territory.
As soon as a winner can be seen I'm going to contribute some nice AJAX goodness.
