Newbie help showing summary of user profiles

roscoe_p_coltrane - November 10, 2008 - 17:33

I am a newb so take it easy on me :o)
I want to display a summary of my user profiles.
Being more specific, when a user registers via the user profile I have added a number of lists from which the user chooses.
e.g. one is "which party will you vote for at the next election". They then choose from a list of parties.
I would like to go through my users and produce a summary, this would be for admin to start off with. Maybe later it would be published to a page for all to see.
eg
number of users that will vote LABOUR 203
,, CON 201
e.t.c.
I am overwhelmed with the avenues I need to check out.
Could anyone give me a rough idea of what modules to use and what tactics.
I will then go away and do some more learning.
I did not use a poll module because people will keep changing their minds. It is more accurate to allow them to update their profile over the months if they need to.

Many Thanks

it helps a great deal if you tag the thread with the version of drupal in use or at the very least mention which version of drupal is in use in the thread.

This is necessary because methods and modules may differ from version to version with regards to how to complete certain tasks.

Sorry

I am using Drupal 6.6
I have no extra modules installed.
i.e. I have not added views e.t.c.
I have enabled profile.
So a complete list of modules and a cunning plan would be great.

Right....:o)Two ways to go

Right....:o)Two ways to go it seems.

1. use profile csv module and just do the analysis in exceland post the results.

2. use content profile module to turn profiles into nodes and then manipulate them.

Any thoughts on the best way to get the info out from the nodes re modules or general tactics.

Option 3 use a 3rd party

Option 3
use a 3rd party mysql database admin tool to pull the data out and export/analyse.

Any Thoughts?

consider advanced poll

The advanced poll module allows you to go back and change your vote. We used it when we had 50+ seminars and people could only choose 4 of them. For the admin it even lists who chose what by user. Worth experimenting with.
