Moveing my paid membership Drupal site to a free Drupal site. Looking for profile suggestions.

I want to redo one of my Drupal sites www.ParentGallery.com and make it free. I would like suggestions on the best way to enhance user profiles. Also is there any way to make a couple registration?

Ultimately I would like to create something like www.parentprofiles.com but not charge.

If you are a Drupal member with a soft spot for adoption I would appreciate any help (design, coding, suggestions) you can offer.
