i used node convert to convert some pages to book pages. it worked but now whenever i try to assign these pages to an actual book, the change does not save even though it says that the book page was updated. i can create and reassign other book pages no problem. anyone else had issues converting to book pages?

adding the appropriate rows in the book table solved the problem.

These additional settings aren't set in the 5.x version. For now, you have to add them manually.

but isn't it strange that i could not edit the record to set a parent after the conversion was done?

It could be that it was a cache issue.
