I get the auto emails from the update module. Just got one. When I looked at the module details in the log, it said reason for need to update was "no longer supported." I'd rather not upgrade all four of my sites just to go to panels 2. However, the 5-2 release cand. is going to give me that "need to upgrade" message on all my sites when I'm logged in plug I'll get daily emails.

I guess my question is why force users to update just because it's no longer supported? Panels 5-1x has been around for a while.

Although I often disagree with the string choices made by some of the update-related modules, this is a situation where I do agree: I removed Panels 1 from the list of supported modules because I have no intention of supporting it. Realistically, no one has been for months. And I'd rather not there be _any_ question anymore about which version people ought to be using going forward.

That said, I certainly sympathize with your point, and in fact, I mostly tossed it because drush is consistently and very frustratingly incapable of getting Panels2 without explicitly indicating a version. Given that it didn't fix it (grrr), I'll put it back up.

HOWEVER, your argument itself is not a valid reason for me to do it, because the update status module allows you to control which of those messages come through (admin/logs/updates/settings). You have the tools to handle your annoyance, so please use em; I'll restore the earlier version because it really ought to be there for posterity's sake.
