In Settings -> File locations, I have set the
Default flash player path to "myplayers" (no slashes).
The folder default/files/myplayers/ exists, and in there I placed the whole folder downloaded from the JW site (v. 4.2). The path to the JW mediaplayer is then sites/default/files/myplayers/mediaplayer/player.swf
In Settings -> File handling JW Media Player 4 is set as default handler for all types, but it says "JW Media Player 4 - Missing".
Tip?

perandre commentedI found more info on the documentation pages (the read me is not updated yet): http://drupal.org/node/303203. When I renamed the folder properly and placed in the standard location, it worked.

Rob_Feature commentedI'm reopening this issue and marking critical since I can't get it working without proper (non-conflicting and correct) documentation. There is conflicting information in the documentation for what the JW Media Player .swf player file should be named.
I'm attaching two screenshots. One is of the "readme.txt" in the /swftools/shared folder. In that file it says that the .swf file should be named (and located at) "flash_media_player/mediaplayer.swf". The other comes from the swftools reports page, which says the file should be named (and located at) "flash_media_player/player.swf".
The funny (or frustrating) part is that neither of these work. I have renamed the JW folder from it's default (when you download it) of "mediaplayer" to the name that the documentation to swftools, which is "flash_media_player" and placed that in the shared folder. Still, naming the .swf file to either of the names that I've found does not work. I still get a "not found" message everywhere.
What SHOULD these files (and the folder) actually be named?

Rob_Feature commentedOops...for me, the reason it wasn't finding the player was a permissions issue (read permissions not granted). However, the documentation conflict still stands. I see it's a change that needs to be made in the swftools/shared/readme.txt.
For the JW FLV Player 4, the file should be called player.swf
Changing this to a task, normal priority, and documentation (along with clarifying the issue title)

Stuart Greenfield commentedThe README.txt duplicated information that is now on the documentation page, and the README wasn't complete as I forgot to update it! To simplify (!) things I have deleted the information from the README and said refer to the drupal.org documentation.
In the case above the directory path is correct (flash_media_player), but the name depends on whether you are referring to JW3 (mediaplayer.swf) or JW4 (player.swf).
The on-line documentation is correct.
The README.txt change will appear when SWF Tools is next released, so setting to "patch (reviewed and tested)" in the meantime.
