It would be good if we can put the imagecache preset (e.g "background_carousel" preset) for the background of the views carousel related to the node image field data.
Maybe by modifying the carousel style.

We can see a good sample on www.ign.com

Is there a reason you wouldn't do this with CSS? It seems to me (if I understand what you're saying correctly) that this is a theme element and shouldn't be put into the module anywhere (in order to keep the style separate from the content)...instead it should be done via CSS and/or javascript theming.
