Integrating Imagefield-CCK with Gallery2

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone have thought of integrating a feature into imagefield to provide a way for a user uploading image(s) to be composed directly to a Gallery2 project as an API call. In the same manner, an existing user could select an image from previously uploaded images and add it as a thumbnail to a node page.

I know that it might sound complicated but just thought of a cool feature for sites that integrate Drupal with Gallery2. Instead of having a separate image space, this would allow for much better integration and a functionality for users.

P.S. I believe that the same idea already exist in TinyMCE WYSIWYG Editor as a button allowing one to select image from external image appliance.
