Development cycle for D7 is over?

Is there going to be a formal announcement to the D7 development cycle closure?

There will be in time. However, there are many things that must be done before annoncing a formal Drupal 7 feature freeze.

I'm not in the secrets, but I believe that:

A new Drupal web site will be done before D7 is frozen.
Drupal.org will migrate to Drupal 6 before D7 is frozen.
The total number of D7 critical issues will need to be reduced to a significant number before D7 is frozen.

This is only a small list and this list is not official.

The D7 code freeze date has not been announced, yet. I expect it's at least a few months off given the amount of work being done.
