Selecting view with the calendar block

I have a content type "xxx" with a date field.
I am trying to get a Calendar in a block where i can choose among days and months and use that as a selector for the content type "xxx" in a view.
Both Calendar and View has to be in the same block.
I managed to create a calendar view, just cloning the default, and display it as a block.
If i click on a date in the Calendar, that shows the relative content, but i want it to be a selector for the view, not for the page/content.

i ve managed to create a new view (block) and style it as a Calender which effectively creates a view on the block as i needed but i can t see now how to get a Calendar showing up and to be used as a selector/filter.
What i am trying to achieve is just a in between the 2 situacions: a Calendar filtering a view.
