The dash player seems to be ideal for non-commercial work, but completely unsuited for commercial work, rendering this module unusable for commercial work as well. Were there a method to purchase the dash player, this might be less of an issue, but as near I can see there's only an option to rent the damn thing. And since businesses go out of business all the time, renting a critical piece of infrastructure for a site seems... overly optimistic?

I'd love to be able to use this thing in various projects, and it looks well done. It just needs a flash player that's commercially viable.

This module is not handcuffed to the Dash Media Player. You can use other media players with it and it will work just fine. I also don't see how this is a FlashVideo module issue.
