Ok, this is extremely frustrating. I have tried this one 3 different web servers, and 2 different database servers! No matter what happens, every time I enter my database connection information on the install screen and hit submit, it just redirects me back to the same screen. No error messages, nothing! Any ideas?

ok, so i downloaded drupal 5.x and was able to install it fine. The thing that sticks out at me is that 5.x allows me to select my db as mysql whereas as 6.x assumes I am using mysqli. Not sure of the differences but could this be where the problem lies?

I had the same problem this morning.

I manually filled out the settings.php file with my mysql user and pass, and then went back to the drupal install script and it worked fine for me.

oddly enough, i downloaded the core from here (instead of drupal.org): http://www.sfr-fresh.com/unix/www/drupal-6.6.tar.gz and the installer seems to work now.

i was having the same problem: run installer for 6.6 & just cycled back to the install page. no errors, no install. this version worked perfectly.
