Have you seen the logs causing it?

the php and Apache logs has nothing to indicate any problem even though the error report is on.

--> if you have crafted a code in the theme you are using than make sure, your open PHP tags are closed properly.
--> clear your cache,(Drupal6) than admin/settings/performance
--> clear cookies and cache of your browser.

I also experience this problem and solved it using default theme. Can you login to your admin panel?

Both the front end and the back end display white screen.I removed the front theme and i got text all over the screen but when i try to access the back end i get white screen even though the back end (administration) theme is set to garland. I also checked the front theme to see if there is any unclosed php tags but every thing is properly closed. I also checked the php errors log but nothing indicate any problem. I'm running MAMP on leopard as will as using the latest version of drupal. I cleared the browser cache (for firefox and safari).

I'm going to use ubuntu (8.10) to see if this problem goes away.

If you have edited any file check file encoding you need to save in ANSI or UTF-8 but I am not sure which one is. Best solution is downloading notepad++ and checking file encoding and updating it.

i did check it and the encoding is UTF-8
