Paged editor to avoid unresponsive script

Description
I started getting Firefox "unresponsive script" warnings when using the strings editor. I am using stringoverrides as a replacement for locale, and have defined about 150 strings so far. If the script is already optimized, would it be reasonable to break up the full list by initial letter (possibly a paged/non-paged configuration option)?
