At the moment it is not really possible to turn off location for the different types. For example on a site of ours we use one node type with location. We do not want user locations or locations on the other node types.

At the moment location module frontpage does 2 queries a page for every node that is loaded. One for each node, and one for each user that is the author of the node.

Imagine having a forum, this forum has a list of 50 nodes. That would be 100 queries for nothing!

Please do not load location information for node types if this has been turned off, also provide a method for disabling user locations!

Also, the new cck locations might be useful as you can add cck locations to just the cck content types that you want.

no interest in this for a long time. I'm closing it. If there is still interest, please try the newest official release or dev release; there have been many changes made. Post a new updated summary and be sure to change the status back to active.
