HI,

A friend of mine has a project: need to integrate a wiki with Google Earth, with a content management system (document library), the ability for people from the community to post their own news/intelligence in the form of videos and images, etc.

Can all these be done with Drupal? Or should my friend hire a programmer to do customization?

Thanks.

Sounds like Drupal can do some of what you're looking for from the brief details you gave. Read up on Drupal in the documentation section - that will explain in great detail what Drupal can do as a content management framework and get you introduced to it - and also give you details and hints on whether your spec is possible.

Are you trying to integrate other Wiki solutions/apps with the Drupal site, or use Drupal's wiki functionality and integrate this with Google Earth? What do you mean exactly by integration with Google Earth?

People will be able to post videos and images to your Drupal site if you configure it to do so using either core or custom content types.

Conceptually Drupal could meet your needs. Behind that one liner is a lot detail and I suspect even with Drupal they may need some customization. Even that case Drupal would be a better starting point given it also makes a great framework.
