the .info file and the .module file are both obsolete. I compared the .module file to the one from the initial 5.x release and they're identical, down to the "last modified" date. Was there a problem with the CVS commit?

By the way, I'm ecstatic that interest in developing this module is picking up again. I'd love to help in whatever way I can.
